LAGRANGE, Ga. (Jan. 16, 2026) – Kathy Bangle, former senior director of development for constituent programs in the University of Georgia’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations, received the award for Excellence in Education Fundraising & Development at the 2025 GEAC Conference in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Bangle has served UGA for 33 years, providing strategic leadership to development professionals representing schools, colleges and units across campus. At the time of her retirement in September 2025, she oversaw development efforts and supports teams working across the institution. She was also widely regarded within the division as a mentor and advisor to colleagues.
Over the course of her career, Bangle has played a role in major fundraising initiatives at UGA. During her 16-year tenure with the College of Veterinary Medicine, she led development, alumni relations, events and communications efforts, helping secure $30 million in private support toward the $97 million Veterinary Medical Center. She has also contributed to multiple university-wide fundraising initiatives, including the Commit to Georgia Campaign, which raised more than $1.45 billion.
Bangle began her career at UGA in planned giving, where she helped align donor goals with the university’s long-term priorities. Her work has supported the establishment of endowed scholarships, faculty chairs and capital projects across campus.
The award recognizes Bangle’s sustained service, professional leadership and impact on fundraising and development at the University of Georgia, as well as her contributions to the advancement profession over more than three decades.
